Originally known as The Surrey County Benefit Society, National Friendly came into being in 1868, making it one of the oldest companies operating in the private healthcare industry. Over the years, it has evolved into the organisation it is today, changing names from National Deposit to National Friendly in 2008.
Although they are not accepting new clients at the time of writing, it is expected that they will launch a range of new products in the near future once they have completed the review of their capital requirements as dictated by the rules of the Financial Services Authority.
In the meantime, existing customers should find that it is business as usual whenever they need to make a claim or change the terms of their policies, with friendly staff waiting to take calls and provide assistance as and when necessary. Because the organisation is a friendly society, there is no need for the management to worry about shareholders. This means that priority can be given to the needs of customers at all times.
